Lee Brandon on his proven reading-based writing and career-related writing for Developmental English

Along with thorough instruction in basic writing skills and the writing process, Brandon books offer two other approaches: reading-based writing and career-related writing.

Reading-Based Writing: As a natural consequence of linking reading and writing, reading-based writing moves students beyond the personal narratives to more analytical expression as they write about what they read. Reading-based writing provides substance for compositions and promotes critical thinking. Students engaged in reading-based writing will be able to transition more smoothly into freshman English composition and to function better across the curriculum.

Career-Related Writing: Using simple directions and engaging examples, these two books show how to adapt five patterns of writing for career and workplace settings and situations. These have special appeal for career-minded students and can be taught concurrently with assignments of other kinds of topics: reading-based, general, and cross-curricular. Learn more >>
