In this session we will provide the opportunity to understand the food-related content that is available within the resources that the library is providing. We will provide the opportunity to get hands-on with the resources to explore and setup diet plans using Rosen Teen Health & Wellness! Additionally, we will identify useful periodicals and create RSS feeds that will continue to provide attendees with information for years to come!

Homework Help Sessions

College Planning

This two hour session will look at all of the amazing tools available in Testing & Education Reference Center  (TERC) and how to use those tools with students and parents who are looking to apply to and fund a college or graduate school education. Attendees will have time to create their own accounts and specially design them so that they will be the most help when assisting and demonstrating the resource to patrons. Outreach ideas will also be discussed and practiced including how to write a press release for your community for this resource.

Google vs. Gale

This three hour session will teach attendees how to work with students to get them away from just Googling for their homework and get them to use the correct research methods to write their papers and work on research projects. Conducting outreach programs and practice sessions will be discussed.

This three hour workshop will teach librarians and library staff how to conduct training sessions for Boy and Girl Scout troops. Attendees will learn some of the best database features to highlight when working with students. Strategies for reaching out to young learners will also be discussed. Part of the sessions will be spent on practicing presentation skills with peer evaluation.

This three hour session will work with librarians and outreach specialists to train them on the Gale online resources available to help homeschooling parents work with their students. Attendees will gain a greater awareness of the challenges facing homeschooling parents and some of the solutions the Gale resources can provide. Attendees will then learn how to best utilize the databases, and how to explain them to both student and adult learners.
